Intern Story
|
by Brian Merrill My name is Brian Merrill, I am interning at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. During the past three months, my primary responsibilities have been to over-see the youth group and its leaders; i.e. scheduling meetings, planning lessons and events. It has been a joy to be part of an amazing group of young people who have so much to teach. While at St. Andrews I also help out in the office doing administrative support. I also give the homily at the midweek service once a month. Soon, I will be doing more lay reading and I will also have the opportunity to preach at the weekend services. The non-profit I work at is Together Inc. There I help out the staff with Data entry, stuffing envelopes, researching potential funding sources, and any other office tasks as needed. I am also assisting the Procurement Manager there with a project called Angel Food Ministries. This is a program that allows families to order a box of food that costs half what it would cost them at a Grocery store. This way they can save money to pay for their bills, money they wouldn’t have other wise. I help distribute the boxes once a month to those who ordered them. So far I am learning a lot and enjoying it at the same time! I would like to thank everyone who has provided us with food and or money for meals. I appreciate immensely the hospitality that has been given to us here at Resurrection House. Thank you all! |
